The Inca Trail and Machu Picchu will be the crowning experience of your exploration in the centre of the Inca world. Before and after this highlight we will take you through the centres of Inca power, astronomy and religion that survive even today, and introduce you to local people, school children, and vibrant markets, where you will witness the vibrant way of life of mountain communities today.
 You will begin in Cuzco, a world heritage city, with its imposing buildings and architectural relics, still resonating with energy from the time when this was the imperial capital and the �navel of the universe�. Over two days you will acclimatize to the altitude, and become familiar with remarkable places and the stories of this city that will weave a thread through the coming days. You will also meet local families, and begin a process to discover a unique people and a culture ruled by the principle of ayni or �reciprocity�
 You will begin on the classic �kilometre 88, visited now only by travellers with Serenity Transformational Tours. Here you have a chance to gather yourself, and shed unwanted �baggage�, before embarking on this remarkable Trail, which traces its way over 13,000 foot high passes and into mist-filled valleys, winding through cloud forest and luxuriant high jungle to one town after another, each now in ruins. Every day is better than the last. Many of our travellers have said that much of what they had been wanting to experience they got on the Inca Trail.

 Your first day in Machu Picchu we encourage you to move wherever you are �drawn� to move in the Citadel, wandering on your own, looking, intuiting, �discovering� quiet places and temples. Later, in a special guided tour, we will share common stories and explanations of this timeless city.
